A Website for All of Us

I WANT TO DISCUSS a development that we are all quite excited about regarding our website. We have dramatically upgraded our endo forum to a fully functioning message board so that all members can easily get into detailed discussions about any aspects of endodontics that they find of interest. The capabilities of the message board include the following:

  1. The ability to write extensive posts as part of a continuing dialogue if desired
  2. The ability to quote a previous post and add to it
  3. The ability to easily upload x-rays, photographs and videos
  4. The presence of voice on videos
  5. A continually revised list of all the endodontic courses we are giving at HODEC, across the country and in our practice as well as any other courses any of our EndoMail member may want to list
  6. In addition, we are in the process of developing free CE courses with the potential of an ongoing discussion of its contents.

The purpose of these improvements is to make our website the most useful endodontic learning site available. Of course, a website is no better than its content, and we expect that the initial content provided by the endodontists constituting our practice will provide that content. When I thought about it, I realized that collectively we have about 125 years of clinical experience, so there is not a lot that we have not been exposed to.
Those in our practice treat teeth endodontically mostly without the use of rotary NiTi. We have found substitutes for shaping canals that we believe are safer, more predictable, and consequently more effective and without doubt about 90 percent less expensive on a per-use basis. We will emphasize how we use these techniques to produce excellent endodontic results while teaching you to do the same. While we believe strongly in these alternative techniques, our discussion will not be limited to these alternative approaches. In fact, we welcome an ongoing dialogue from those who are most in favor of rotary NiTi or the traditional use of K-files.
We want EndoMail.com to be a dynamic center for the most thorough discussions of a variety of techniques with all the details of those techniques thoroughly reviewed and illustrated. While differences of opinion will inevitably be present, we will take all the steps required to make sure that these discussions are carried out in a professional atmosphere that respects every individual. In that light, anonymity will not be part EndoMail.com. We believe that people should always be able to know who they are talking to and whatever vested interests they may have that might affect their viewpoints. Having this knowledge makes it far easier for the audience as a whole to form their own conclusions based on the information they get from EndoMail.com.
Expect to see detailed interactive illustrated discussions of the following subjects in the weeks and months ahead:

  1. the most effective endodontic access for all teeth
  2. the best ways to find auxiliary canals
  3. the advantages of straightening the corornal portions of curved canals for further ease of instrumentation
  4. the safest and most efficient ways to thoroughly shape canals
  5. the safest and most efficient ways to irrigate canals
  6. the use of the microscope for superior visualization
  7. the use of specialized burs and ultrasonic tips for superior canal exploration
  8. the safest and most effective ways to completely obturate canals
  9. a methodical method of diagnosis as applied to many of the cases that will be posted

EndoMail.com will be unlike any other endodontic forum in its desire to have it open to all viewpoints, limited only by the goal of expressing ourselves with professional respect for our peers. The goal is simply to make EndoMail.com your home for information that allows you to make the most intelligent decisions on what are the safest, most efficient, most cost-effective ways to perform superior endodontics.
I look forward to having a productive relationship with all those who become members and look forward to discussions that will lead to improvements for all of us.

Soak your gutta percha points in chlorhexidine for two minutes and dry them thoroughly to sterilize them before obturating the canals.
